Alright. These are not all the romantic comedies that I love - but I'd say it's a pretty nice preliminary list. I know you guys are probably thinking this is such a waste of cyberspace and time - but it was fun to make.
I'm not a "romantic comedy" girl per-say. I tend to enjoy action/adventure movies most (Die Hard, Indiana Jones, Comic Book Remakes etc...) But... there are movies I like to watch that I call "no thinking required" movies. These are movies you've seen a hundred times but still love to death. Movies that don't necessarily teach you anything about life. Movies where you either love the leading man and he makes the movie for you - or you love the leading woman and want her to get the man because she definitely deserves it. Movies that make you feel good when you feel not so awesome yourself. These are the movies listed below - In no particular order.
- Never Been Kissed
Drew Barrymore is one of my favorite actresses. Plus - hello MICHAEL VARTAN. One of my first loves and the reason I watched Alias.
- Love Actually
Hugh Grant dancing around the room by himself, "To me, you are perfect", and the miscommunication scene with the paper flying in the water.
- Can't Hardly Wait
Ethan Embry is so adorable in this movie. He also played a role in "That Thing You Do" - another awesome movie.
- Wedding Crashers
I'm not sure this is romantic comedy - but whatever. Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, AND Chrisopher Walken. Love it love it love it.
- Sixteen Candles
No explanation necessary I presume.
- Shallow Hal
Jack Black is so much fun. This movie is always on TV for my viewing pleasure.
- The Secret of My Success
Michael J. Fox. Not so into the girl he likes in the movie (Christy) but this one reminds of being a kid and I love it. Plus - the scene in the limo with the lipstick - so much fun.
- Pretty Woman
Ok. Hands down favorite movie of this category. Wait... ties with Dirty Dancing. Richard Gere. Julia Roberts. Wish I was her - minus the whole prostitution thing.
- Just Like Heaven
Mark Ruffalo is so funny in this movie. Reese Witherspoon is spunky and so I always love movies she is in.
- Thirteen Going on 30
Another Mark Ruffalo movie. I think I partially love this movie for the music and thriller scene - but mostly because they were childhood friends who fell in love.
- You've Got Mail
How old is this movie? Love it! When he realizes it's HER! AHHH! Plus you get a little Sleepless in Seattle pairing going on here.
- She's the Man
Again I'm not sure if this is romantic comedy but Channing Tatem is... Channing Tatem. And that's all that matters. Plus I think Amanda Bynes is actually pretty funny. Good quote, "Ok... First of all it's not a stupid soccer issue and... you're a jerk. Oh look at that, times up. (slaps him in the face).
- High Fidelity
John Cusack is hilarious in this movie. Great soundtrack and the way he narrates it really make this one interesting.
- Two Weeks Notice
Hugh Grant.
- The Wedding Singer
Adam Sandler. I could do a whole post on just Adam Sandler - he is probably my favorite actor. I know he pretty much always plays the same role but I don't care - he is hilarious. Everything about this movie is fun. The music, the people, another Drew Barrymore, Sandler singing the whole movie. Greatness! I also own the soundtrack.
- Bewitched
Will Ferrel. He did a good job playing someone less like himself and I thought this movie was pretty good considering how truly amazing the show it is based on really was.
- Because I Said So
I can't help it. I like Mandy Moore. and I love the guy she gets in the end. Isn't he amazing?
- 10 Things I Hate About You
Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger are cute together - but I love Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt from "Third Rock from the Sun"). He actually makes the movie for me. Oh! And when Heath sings in the bleachers.
- Someone Like You
Hugh Jackman in the kitchen. Ashley Judd cheerleading. This is where I got my Blaise Pascal quote .
- Bring it On
This movie is classic. Eliza Dushku's brother in this movie - so cute!
- Mannequin
Classic. Who didn't fall in love with that guy? He was sort of dorky though.
- Dirty Dancing
Patrick Swayzee. Ahh.... It just makes you wish you could dance.
- 50 First Dates
Adam Sandler + Drew Barrymore again. Loving it!! and when he sings her the song about their 2 millionth first kiss. So sweet.
- Sweet Home Alabama
Her husband (the one from the south) is so cute in this movie. I don't know his name - I haven't see it in in awhile.
- How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
I REALLY like these two together. Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. Don't you just want that yellow dress?
